Cycling in downtown Shizugawa, a spiritual walk
on the island of God and handcrafting traditional “Kiriko” art
to discover Shinto and the town’s history.
In the morning, enjoy exploring some of the most
local and fresh tastes of Minamisanriku at the Morning Market.
This is a short distance cycling plan.
Day 1 ― Cycling
1. Arrive at Shizugawa Station
Welcome to Minamisanriku!
Shizugawa Station is where the JR Bus Rapid Transit stops, as well as Miyakoh Highway Bus from Sendai.
2. Sun Sun Shopping Village
Head across the street diagonally from the crossing by Seven Eleven to Sun Sun Shopping Village.
Restaurants and vendors await if you’re looking for a quick break or light snack before we get started!
3. Rent-a-cycle
Head over to the Information Desk inside Sun Sun Shopping Village and get riding.
Mountain bike to the wild side, or electric bike for an easy ride.
4. Lunch
Lunch at the Sun Sun Shopping Village or nearby restaurant would be a good choice.

5. Cycle through Shizugawa
Take a look around downtown Minamisanriku and pay your respects at the Minamisanriku Disaster Prevention Center.

Day 2 ― Cycling
9. Local Morning Market*
Immerse yourself into the town life and have a local breakfast at the Sun Sun “Asaichi” Morning Market in Sun Sun Shopping Village.
* “Asaichi” Morning Market is held on first and third Sundays (6:00-8:30 am) from Spring to Fall. Confirm with us for details.
10. “Kiriko” handcrafting
Feel the history at a shrine and experience handcrafting your own traditional “Kiriko” art.
11. Lunch
Lunch at the Sun Sun Shopping Village or nearby restaurant would be a good choice.
