Minamisanriku locals give you the highlights of the town, as if you were a personal friend from out of town. We will publish these introductions as blog posts on VOICE, so stay tuned. And of course this will not be found in a guidebook, because it’s their real voice.
But first, we need to practice our English so we can be hospitable to visitors who do not speak Japanese! Visitors always welcome to our class! (Photo: Minamisanriku “English for Tourism” Class)
Hello Minamisanriku! We are a married couple from the southern USA. We were sad to see online the suffering from the tsunami, but are happy and hopeful due to your strength and will to be happy. We hope to visit you in a few years when we can. We look forward to enjoying your company. よろしくおねがいします。With best wishes, Joe and Kim
Thank you so much for your kind message Joe & Kim.
We continue to move forward, to overcome the hardship that has hit this town and to regain our livelihood.
Currently, amidst reconstruction efforts, this town may seem like it has lost everything.
But we cherish the beautiful sea and mountain in our town, and hope to live with nature for generations to come.
Your message gives us will and strength. We look forward to your visit, and thank you for keeping us in your thoughts.
Hi Joe and Kim. I think if I come to Minamisanriku I would like to stay at a Minshuku. What do you think about that?
Enjoy your weekend. Diane
Dear Diane, A minshuku could be an excellent choice, depending upon your tastes. There seem to be some choices in the area, and we are considering the same. Surely the people on this MSR site would be pleased to answer any questions you may have. Please enjoy!
Nice to meet you Minamisanriku Bloggers! Hello from New Hampshire in the US. I am happy to see the resilience of Minamisanriku people. I hope to visit some day.
In New Hampshire Spring is just beginning. I can see some crocuses in yellow and purple coming up from the soil.
Congratulations on your determination! Warm regards, Diane
Thank you very much Diane from New Hampshire! It is wonderful to receive your comment. In Minamisanriku, plums are in blooming. Next month we will have cherry blossoms in full bloom! We hope you will visit us someday in the not so distant future, and thank you again for your kind message!
